Viking Rune Pendant with Yggdrasil the World Tree - or Tree of Life

Many ancient cultures had mythologies and legends surrounding a Tree of Life. Celtic mythology portrayed a tree of life connecting the heavens and the earth. Norse mythology told stories of Yggdrasil, the great tree whose branches connected the nine worlds and continued on into the heavens. Christianity also reference a Tree of Life in the Old Testament book of Genesis. This wonderful handmade pendant was inspired by all of this rich legacy, but has an emphasis on Norse mythology with the addition of the runes along the border. The runes themselves each have importance and individual meaning, but they are arranged here to show one of each, not to form any particular word or message.
