Our unique Penannular Horse Head Brooch or Cloak Pin has been masterfully hand-forged with hammer and anvil. This strong brooch can be worn several different ways depending on the style/look you are going for. Brooches similar to this were initially developed from the Roman clasp or fibula. In the severe climate of northern Europe, the brooch became the typical ornament of the era because it normally functioned as a fastening for a heavy tunic or cloak. This particular design pays homage to Horses, which were perhaps the most important animal to human progress of the last 1000 years. Perfect for costumes, Renaissance Festivals, or just everyday wear. We're currently making these in two sizes: Medium and Large. Please see below for more detailed information.
