Deer were of great importance to many ancient cultures, not only as a source of food but also as symbols of how to better and improve one's life. Deer and symbols relating to deer were most often intended to represent spiritual evolution, generosity, kindness, and patience. These pendants also have a triquetra or trinity knot design on the neck of the deer. This trinity knot symbol has been adopted by other cultures and religions, and because of that its meaning and symbolism grew and changed somewhat over time.
