Viking "Helm of Awe" and Blue Knot Design Shield - Made of Solid Oak Planks
If you're looking for a shield that's an absolute masterpiece, then this is it. Great for the wall or the battlefield, this Viking shield will dominate a room with its presence. Atop a striking blue knot design, the shield proudly bears the symbol commonly known as "Aegishjalmr" or Helm of Awe, which is one of the most mysterious and powerful symbols of Norse mythology. This symbol is based on a repetition of the Norse "Z" rune "Algiz" which represents protection and prevailing over one's enemies. The symbol was thought to bring about certain victory if displayed on one's armor and weapons. This shield is made of carved red oak planks, and measures about 30 inches in size. A heavy 12 gauge steel boss is in the center of this shield, and steel studs line the attached rim. The back of the shield features a long handle for comfortably gripping the shield with one hand. Because this shield is made of real wood, please note that the woodgrain shown in the pictures may vary slightly from the shield you receive (this is simply due to the nature of the wood). The front of the shield has also been applied with several coats of topcoat/varnish to protect it through the centuries. This is a treasure your grandchildren will be fighting for. An heirloom worthy of a Viking warrior.
