Viking Dragon Brooch in Polished Bronze

This beautiful Viking Dragon Brooch is made of polished bronze and depicts a stylized dragon whose body form elegant curls and weaves. Dragons were very prominent in Viking / Norse mythology. In particular, the monstrous beast known as Jormungandr was a powerful dragon created by Loki whose existence threatened the entire world. This brooch is inspired by jewelry, wood carvings and other artwork found on the Icelandic locality of Fossi, as well as the isle of Gotland (Sweden) and from dig sites in Norway. It measures about 1.6 inches in height. There is a pin on the back for easy fastening.
