Celtic Epona Knot Hair Clip

This finely crafted Celtic "Epona" Hair Clip is made of brass which has been polished to a nice reflective gold. It was made in Ireland and the Horse/Sun Design is inspired by actual jewelry and artwork created by the Celts. It measures about 4 x 10 cm in size, or 1.57 x 3.93 inches. The circular depiction of horses on this piece is a common representation of the Celtic goddess Epona. Besides being a goddess of fertility, Epona was also known as the protector of horses, donkeys, and mules. Epona saw widespread worship among the Celts, and even saw noticeable worship in Rome during the 1st and 3rd Centuries AD.
