Norse (or Viking) mythology told stories of Yggdrasil, the great tree whose branches connected the nine worlds and continued on into the heavens. This wonderful pendant was inspired by all of this rich legacy, but also pays homage to Mother Earth by portraying the tree trunk as a female. This relates to the Celtic earth-mother goddess Danu (also sometimes spelled Anu, or Dana), who was honored under various names from eastern Europe to Ireland.
