Triquetra Tree of Life Pendant with Stainless Steel Chain
Many ancient cultures had mythologies and legends surrounding a Tree of Life. Celtic mythology portrayed a tree of life connecting the heavens and the earth. Norse (or Viking) mythology told stories of Yggdrasil, the great tree whose branches connected the nine worlds and continued on into the heavens. Christianity also references a Tree of Life in the Old Testament book of Genesis. We created this wonderful handmade pendant was that rich history in mind, but we also added a prominent Triquetra to the base of the tree.
The Triquetra, or Trinity Knot is one of the most popular symbols associated with Celtic culture. Because of its popularity, this symbol was later adopted by other cultures and religions, and its meaning and symbolism grew and changed somewhat over time. The Celts believed the most important things came in threes: the three domains (earth, sea, and sky), the three elements, and the three stages of life. Wiccans and Pagans consider the Trinity Knot to be a symbol of the forces of nature, and the three-fold nature of Goddess as mother, maiden, and crone. Christians believe it to representative of the Holy Trinity of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. But overall, the Triquetra or Trinity Knot often symbolizes eternal love, longevity, and the continuous cycle of life. Regardless of the meaning, we designed this pendant to beautifully and perfectly merge the Tree of Life and Triquetra symbols.
