Knotted Sea Dragon Brooch

The design of this beautiful brooch is suitable for both Viking and Celtic cultures. It depicts a stylized dragon whose body twists and curls into elegant knots. Dragons were very prominent in Viking / Norse mythology. In particular, the monstrous beast known as Jormungandr was a powerful dragon created by Loki. Jormungandr represented such a threat to the world that Odin personally intervened and cast the beast into the sea, where instead of dying it grew ever larger until finally it's body encircled all of Midgard.
